Art & Drama Camp 2026: Now I See

Art & Drama Summer Camp

It has been incredible to witness what God has done through Art & Drama Camp over the past two years. Through this ministry, children have encountered the love of Jesus and heard the gospel in fresh and meaningful ways. For some, it was the first time they truly understood the good news of Christ.

Families continue to be drawn to our Christ-centered camp because it combines creativity, community, and faith. This year, campers will have the opportunity to sing, dance, speak, act in a custom-written play, and create beautiful works of art. Most importantly, they will hear the gospel proclaimed and have the opportunity to embody its message through the arts.

Our theme this year is “Now I See,” based on the account of the man born blind in John 9. The powerful themes of this story—Jesus' healing, faith, spiritual sight, and transformation—will shape every aspect of the week, including our Bible studies, music, drama, games, and art projects.

As we prepare for camp, we ask for your prayers. Please pray for our 50+ campers, their families, and the many volunteers who will be serving throughout the week. We are expectant and grateful for what God will continue do through Art & Drama Camp.

We also invite you to join us for our Art Show and Performance on Friday, June 19, at 7:00 p.m. Come celebrate the creativity of our campers and the work God has accomplished during the week.

If you feel called to volunteer, we'd love to have you join us. There is still room to serve, and we would be grateful for your help.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Dan Hues

Update from Pastor Dave Singer

Hello and greetings Emmanuel,

The month of May has been a busy one for the Singer Family!  I have been busy with my normal work schedule and have been preaching at a few other churches in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District for pastors who have been away on business or vacation.  I have preached for our circuit visitor, Pastor David Jung down at Grace Lutheran in Visalia twice recently.  Grace has two services, an early morning traditional service, followed by a contemporary service which makes for a busy morning.  I had a very nice blessing out of it, I preached on Mother’s Day and my wife Imelda brought my mom down for the second service and then we all had a nice brunch together afterwards in Visalia.  I also had the opportunity to fill in for our former Pastor, Ed Kruger, up in San Rafael.  In his honor, I wore an Hawaiian shirt for the occasion.  I have two upcoming sermons.  This weekend I will be preaching at St. Paul Lutheran in Merced and the next weekend, at Trinity Lutheran down in Exeter.  As one of the only associate pastors in the area, it has been very helpful to our fellow churches to have a pastor available to give them some much needed time off.  I will be assisting here at Emmanuel in the same way for our own Pastor Dan in July.

At the same time, life was been busy for my family as well.  Our daughter Lily graduated from Pepperdine Law School just a few weeks ago and then immediately packed up and moved to join her husband in Washington State.  So we attend the graduation, then packed up her apartment, drove to Clovis, packed up the last of her room and personnel items she had stored at home, and drove it all to Washington.  There Imelda and I helped Lily and her husband Grant unpack everything and get their house settled.  We even got a chance to attend a Lutheran Church in Bremerton where in two weeks, they will receive a brand new pastor from the seminary and you could tell they were very excited.

Meanwhile, at the California Highway Patrol, I just received a promotion to Captain and will be moving to Sacramento for the near future (I will be renting a place, but we will be keeping our home here in Clovis).  Although a bit of a hardship for Imelda and I, much like the military, this is the life in the CHP when it comes to promotions.  My promotion to sergeant took me to Gilroy for a year and my promotion to Lieutenant took me to Merced for two years! So, we will see how long I will be in Sacramento.

Lastly, I am still in seminary with only three class to go!  I am currently studying Preaching II, learning new preaching skills to assist me in delivering God’s Word to all His beloved sons and daughters.  Life is very busy for me and mine, yet thanks be to God, I have the opportunities to share the love of Christ through all of it.  Please pray for my daughter and her husband as they begin their life together as husband and wife and for him, Grant, in his service to our country in the Navy.  Also, please pray for me in my new position as Captain, that I can be a Christ formed leader for my people and can show His love through a hard working example while building patience and endurance for Imelda and I during this separation.

Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes.  In Christ’s name,

Pastor David Singer
